North Shields Fish Quay has been a focus of major regeneration and investment in recent years. This has included the refurbishment and modernising of several large properties to a high standard for a range of small and medium sized businesses, ranging from IT companies, training providers, architects and artists studios. The great variety of successful businesses operating on the Fish Quay has created a bustling day time economy, where the traditional and modern sit comfortably alongside each other.
As well as the more traditional operations, such as Taylor’s Seafoods (who’ve been on the Quay for many years), other successful companies such as Microvention Medical Devices, Carney Consultancy and Edwards Architecture have all made the Fish Quay their home. Restaurants include Sambucas, David Kennedy’s River Café, The Staith House, The Quay Taphouse and many more new and exciting places to dine. A full list of all businesses on the Quay can be found in the business directory page of the website.
Businesses on the Quay and across the Borough can receive advice and practical assistance by the North Tyneside Business Factory (with support from North Tyneside Council) located on Saville Street in North Shields town centre. The newly established North Shields Fish Quay Coastal Community Team and long established North Shields Chamber also promotes general commerce, trade and the economy as well supporting tourism to the area.
